What is the City of Houston GRP Fee on my Water Bill?
Harris County MUD 400 participates in the City of Houston’s Groundwater Reduction Plan (“GRP”) to comply with regulations established by the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District regarding groundwater withdrawal.
Under this program, the City of Houston charges the District a fee per 1,000 gallons of groundwater withdrawn. This fee is passed through to customers based on their water usage, including system water loss.
The GRP fee is set by the City of Houston and is typically adjusted annually on April 1. Harris County MUD 400 does not have control over the rate established by the City.
